      (Mother of Thyme)
      CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Flattest, dark green groundcover, forming a durable mat between stones or spaced paving, as a lawn or simple topping around a large potted specimen. Round clusters of bright pink flowers are a further delight for a long period over winter and spring. It tastes good too.

A few smaller, choice mediterranean bulbs protruding through its expanse could constitute a garden in entirety.

Well drained soil and sun are all that is required for this classic garden favourite. Self sows usefully in unplantable places.

    Scrophulariaceae

    • ‘Thriftwittle’   CAG01956
      Verbascum ‘Thriftwittle’
      CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

A long lived and hardy perennial, flowering constantly throughout the warmer months. Tall elegant spikes of four petalled moth-like flowers range in colour from mulberry pink to pale apricot depending on weather, soil type or the plants mood at the time.
Well behaved and rarely self seeds.

  • Veronica
    • spicata ‘Pink Spire’   CAG01384
      CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Small mounds of slightly furred, fresh green, longitudinally folded, broadly lance shaped leaves bear vertical spikes of densely packed soft pink flowers. For those perfect perennial compositions as seen in your favourite magazine/blog/television show.

Easily grown in any well drained soil, preferably alkaline and with a little shelter.

Not as durable as V. ‘Blue Sensation’ but it's pink.

  • Viola
  • Weigela
    • ‘Looymansii Aurea’   CAG00668
      Weigela ‘Looymansii Aurea’
      CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Simply sumptuous chartreuse leaves on a quick growing deciduous shrub, a little wayward of growth which adds to the appeal, as too do the clusters of trumpet shaped, bright pink flowers that are borne in spring. The foliage is a little sun tender so light shade is recommended in all but the coolest regions but it is otherwise easy of culture with protection and adequate summer moisture.

Undoubtedly one of the very best foliage shrubs for shade, a splendid companion for Rhododendron though they tend to look a little sombre in comparison.

  • Zephyranthes
    • macrosiphon   CAG00670
      CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

One of the larger flowered species, from eastern Mexico, with broader (5mm), strappy, slightly glaucous leaves, deciduous in cold years, emerge from shallow, long necked bulbs. Very showy, soft pink, six petalled, starry flowers (10cm) are borne at any time of the year, even while leafless through winter.

Forms loose clumps of self sown seedlings and plays well with others, combine with everything for additional yet unobtrusive impact.

Easily grown in any soil with at least some summer moisture, extended periods of neglect are survived though not enjoyed. Very tolerant of clay and wet feet.
