Considered by many to be one of the worlds most beautiful small trees with a grace of form greater than the sum of its parts. Usually multi stemmed, the evergreen, pinnate leaves with dark, glossy green, oval leaflets, densely crown the graceful trunks and from which emerge many short racemes of grape scented, bluish purple, pea shaped blooms.
Intolerant of wet feet, excessive irrigation or poorly drained soil, once established it revels in lean soils and dry summer heat and is unperturbed by the meagre chill of any Australian winter. Slow growing but long lived and well worth the wait.
Best in inland areas.
